Shed of the year 2010 has been announced

Shedtype: [Workshop/Studio]

Features: The Strawdio was built out of Strawbales and is a hybrid "loadbearing" and timber supported structure. The roof is Wild Flower Meadow sitting on a pond liner. I made it myself with the help of an army of volunteers over 2 years after going on some courses with Barbara of amazon Nails.

Additional Info: for a complete diary (with pics)of the build go to www.pindropclub.co.uk/strawdio

Beautiful! What I would give for the space to make a shed like that. I'd love to try cob as a building material too. I imagine much good music being made there. Good luck and good plucking!

I deeply adore your shed.I wish it could be transported to N.Wales and I could inhabit it.Maybe I could use it for inspiration and encourage my hippy brother and father to construct me one akin to yours. We have loads of 300 year old beams from the old school house we're renovating.Unfortunately heroine addicts squated it for 10 yrs prior to our purchase. They sold the slates, the gorgeous beams became rotten.Fortunately,an inch in they're amazing, but can't support the new roof.Something constructive and befitting has to be done with them, as they were salvaged from a ship wreck on the S.W Anglesey coast eons ago. Thanks for the inspiration!Shuna.xxx
