Shed of the year 2010 has been announced

Shedtype: [Unique]

Features: This shed is a replica of a tramcar used on the Wisbech & Upwell Tramway there were 2 no7&8 the no8 was used in the film Titfield Thunderbolt no7 was a back up there is lots of information on the web. The no7 is currently stored at Weybourne station on the North Norfolk Coast and is called Irene, I photographed it from every angle and my colleague (the brains) and I built it from the photo,s.

Additional Info: We started to build in April 2007 at the time I owned a boatyard so was able to do some work on the yard such as the 12 laminated beams. The original carriage is a double ender and has 19 windows down each side we had to scale it down a bit to 14 windows each side and have one as a dummy end this has not spoilt the look. April 2009 2 years and we have just finished all bar the crome socket plates and the crome toggle switch.

This shed has been viewed 3702 times.

This would make the perfect structure to house my model railroad layout!

Nothing short of inspiring. One thing troubles me though; the circular vents in the windows are completely out of character. Surely some of the windows should open to provide ventilation. Also the whole thing is far too clean and tidy to be a true representation of the original in 'Titfield Thunderbolt'. I trust it has a much more 'lived in' look by now.

This is a credit to you..what an effort...I am lost for words...Richard

I had the pleasure of watching this being constructed and it really does look as good as the photo's, we will now have to change you name from 'three sheds' to 'four shed'

Hi I think this does look good ! I have one minor comment, the protype coach has a low arc roof not the semi circular one on the shed. I know as I am the person in charge of the restoration of the real one which is owned by the M&GN Society on the North Norfolk railway, ( 9 out of 10 for a good shed ! )

Very well made and worthy of a uniqueness award.

I agree that is a work of art. Beautiful job and fantastic yard!
by Conrad Kendrick on 02/05/2009 from 74.127.---.---

That's not a shed, it's a work of art! I'd love to have something like it in my garden which is a disused railway cutting.
