As a neighbor, I have admire this interesting shed. It is an elegant reuse of old wood, and has a strange presence in the garden because of the different colored used wood, which I think is a humorous reference to Florentine Renaissance exteriors.

I usually think about a shed being just a shed. I have seen this one and it has been carefully thought through and is practical and uses materials that are readily available.
Thoughtful and clever.

I have personally seen this shed in Petaluma; it is an impressive and laudable labour of love.

I've had the pleasure of touring this shed, it's amazing inside and out. The reclaimed redwood is beautifully aged, at once modern and vintage. The white interior walls provide great bouncelight from the windows, unlike most sheds this feels light and airy.

Hi Jack,
Pallets would work great. The old fencing was used as rain screen siding. There is a lot of great information on this siding method on the Internet. It is normally used on commercial and high end residential (because its labor intensive). The siding is spaced 3/4th to 1ᄑ inches off of the vapor barrier (building paper) and plywood. The siding is not the weather proofing it job is to protects the vapor barrier from sun and physical damage.
