This pondhouse/summerhouse has been part of the property when we moved in. It has a fabulous spot next to the pond, visible from all the rooms to the back of the house, with the sun shining onto it till evening. It is quite old and needed tender loving care. A couple of years ago, together with the help of a good friend, I replaced broken glass panes, renewed putty, repaired rotting wood and repainted the house with 3 coats. Last year I finally fulfilled my vision to inside recreate our favourite holiday destination, Mombasa/Kenya. We absolutely love the pondhouse, it holds a lot of memories and transmits the feeling of adventure, nature and warmth.
The pondhause/summerhouse has been built by a Birmingham company called "Vane and Schofield", maybe anytime around the 1930th/40th. It has 4 sides and a pitched roof, with double doors opening out to the pond and garden and small window panes on the upper half of 3 sides of the house. It can be manually rotated. I have painted it in a green colour, which gives it a beautiful backdrop to all the wonderful trees, shrubs and plants in the garden. PS: There is another shed at the back of the garden, which I had not intended to enter into the competition at all, but as things do evolve I did it - it's called the "Mysterious Shed" in the Normal Shed category.
