Kathmandu

Lizzy built it. Brick by brick, plank by plank - to make music in. She brought the windows from France. She sited it to catch the afternoon sun. Hers was the inspiration.

Mick made the veranda. He measured and measured and measured. He cared about the proportions. He covered it with wire mesh. For my safety.

Bob and Barbara gave me the tree. Golden apple of the Hesperides. To make quince vodka and mostarda di venezia. Unusual. A little exotic.

No-one knew that I would see the building as from the high Himalayas. That I would add log art, bamboo and Chinese dogs. To some people it is just a wooden shed. To many of the world's poorest it would be the ultimate in luxury. To me it is a contribution to my life by people I care about
