    Shed Features

Pat's Cabin is unique in that we used an existing Pergola framework to shape the cabin - giving it a somewhat quirky look. We are great believers in conservation so all the wood has been recycled. The roof is felted and we managed to fit five double glazed windows at a cost of £170. My last shed was in the backyard of a terraced house and I loved it - so the location of the present cabin overlooking a stream and surrounded by trees is a bonus. The conservation theme continues inside - the desk is made from recycled wood and the seating came from a static caravan. The woodburner supplies the heat and we have main electrics. Finally, we created a stable door entry in anticipation of glorious summers to come when we would need added ventilation. The cabin combines an office space and a relaxing retreat complete with tv and dvd player. It's a work in progress, I'm looking out for a (recycled) caravan sink and hob unit to complete the kitchen.

    Other Shed info

Sourcing the free recycled wood is vital - otherwise the cost would be prohibitive. De- nailing is an art form and it is quite satisfying when you reuse the nails. Having good friends to help with the build is a great bonus. I happily became a professional 'Go-For' once my mate Paul showed that his skills and self-confidence far outweighed my own.
