The sitterooterie was built as an artist studio and somewhere to site to admire the fantastic view of the Cairngorm national park. Facing NE it captures the perfect light for painting, and a full wall of glass captures the surrounding views whether open or closed. The cladding detail is a modern take on a classic scottish board on board detail, and it is a warm environment all very round.
The building is very sustainable, built onto small concrete pads to reduce the impact on its setting, the cladding is sourced from a sustainably maintained forest, and it is built with increased insulation to reduce the running costs, making it a sustainable solution to extra space.
