June's Bar

More than £1000

The vision from the start was to re-create a traditional old mans pub in my garden. I wanted somewhere where I could have friends over to watch the football as well as spend time with the family watching movies, the family dog even has his own bed. To create the feel of being in a pub on a match day I installed a Dolby 5.1 surround sound system as well as using a HDMI splitter to split the Sky feed to two TVs. In addition to the TV entertainment at June's Bar I have also included a fruit machine as well as a dartboard and a selection of pub games and snacks. June's Bar also has on a display a selection of signs, branded mirrors as well as my shot glass collection that I have been collecting for roughly 10 years. It has both a beer and wine fridge under the bar and a personalised bell for those rare occasions when last orders are called.
Being based in South Wales the weather isn't always on our side so I ensured it was fully insulated as well as a log effect fire to make the bar just as warm and cosy in the winter months as it would be appealing in the summer with a BBQ in the garden.
The pub is named after my beloved grandmother June. She unfortunately passed away back in 2008 but we were incredibly close, she taught me cards and effectively gamble, and when I decided I wanted to build a pub in my garden there was only one person I could name it after. Which is ironic as I never once saw her with a drink in her hand.

My cousin helped with the insulation and running electrical cables. The vision I had from the outset helped us in planning exactly where plug sockets should go and measuring out everything perfectly before ordering furniture. We also installed a motion sensor light outside to help us find our way back to the house late at night. I genuinely did not think it would turn out as well as it has done.
