Our shed has three areas, two of which can be opened up, and the third used to make new or repair any other part of the building, or work on other welding projects. The idea behind this structure was to have both a place to work and a place relax without the weather impeding play. With the hot tub under the lean-to, it can be used in rain sleet or snow. RSJs, box steel and various steel sheets have been used to build the lean-to and a push out sliding door to fully make use of all the space. The project is ongoing and improvements are in the pipeline.
This shed, costing so far over a thousand pounds, has a number of outstanding features such as the sash window and reclaimed wood for the dividing wall which were upcycled from demolished buildings. The RSJs were a low cost, local purchase, cut up to be transported back by car and then welded back together to form the lean-to.
The work shop has proved invaluable for welding the lean-to, welding and brazing the zinc plated gutters and creating the sliding door; all of which have evolved of a number of years.
We have a number of innovative ideas in the pipeline with the next big project to take the shed off-grid with some solar panels and a wind turbine.
