Our cheese shed is a multifunctional space where I am able to make, mature and share my cheese with friends and family. In one corner is the cheese creation area a stainless steel table and micro vat; in the middle is a fridge which Ive customised myself to ensure its the perfect environment for maturing cheese; in the far corner is my science kit (used to check variables like acidity); and taking up the majority of the space is a cheese tasting area (a sofa and a coffee table).
I have been making cheese as a hobby for the past 7 years, initially because I was curious how the different varieties came about. I started making cheese in my spare room in London, but when we moved to the countryside, I was able to move my operation into the summerhouse at the end of the garden (which was good news to my wife and new baby who have been able to make better use of the spare room!). Over the years, I have seen my experiments into cheese featured on TV, radio, national newspapers and food trade press. You can find out more about my adventures on my blog: handyface.wordpress.com
