It represents a traditional country pub from a gentler era, as I remember them, before they were ruined. You'll not find gaudy beer fonts, neon lights, TV sports, pool or blaring music at The Duck and Flute. Instead enjoy comfort, traditional pub furniture and games, period fittings throughout and pub advertising from brands long disappeared. Also ashtrays on tables (remember those ?) and a Players cigarette vending machine. Glasses from an era that when ladies enjoyed a drink and it was provided in a beautiful glass, whatever their tipple. There are working pumps and we have served ale from the cask at parties. It's a space to reunite old friends and enjoy the company of those we love. Outside there are beer gardens front and back with wooden benches and tables. The front Beer garden is bound by rusty wrought iron fencing and entry is gained through a kissing gate.
We obtained permission to build our dream shed. It was constructed with absolute attention to detail and quality by my niece's husband over a period of almost twelve months. It is made of brick and tile reproducing a reclaimed appearance. The tiles are stippled to promote the aging effects of the weather and already it gives the effect of having always being there in it's location in the garden.
