I decided to build the rave cave back in the winter of 2016 , as a lover of music and a collector of vinyl I was running out of space in the house and didn't really have anywhere to use my Dj equipment and broadcast to internet radio, plus the wife wasn't too happy with my record collection taking over the house. The rave cave holds a lot of my vinyl record collection and my dj equipment I use for broadcasting to a radio station specifically Pub Shed Radio . It is 3.5m x2.8m made from reclaimed 3x2 timber frame, shiplap cladding with a felted marine plywood mono pitch roof built on leveled recycled steel beams with 25mm thick reclaimed plywood base, the interior has insulated walls and ceilings covered with plasterboards , the floor is laminate oak effect. It also has a fully stocked bar , with a wide variety of gins . it was built from scratch in the summer 2017 took about 2 months to build from start to finish with a few hours in the week and weekends. i i have portable heaters inside and it is used all year round for social gatherings sporting events & parties for family and friends . the bar was handmade from recycled euro pallets ,sanded and then varnished. Total cost of the build including the electrics , plaster board and interior paint was just over £900.
It was made mainly from reclaimed materials except for the ship lap cladding and the electricity supply. A massive thank you to John Clayton for all his help with the design and construction of the project and also a big thanks to his son and my best mate Andy Clayton for his labour skills lol !!!! Update. Had a revamp inside. During May 2020 during lockdown
