Our shed is multi-purpose. We use it to relax and listen to the sound of the babbling brook below, as a cosy bird hide to spy on the beautiful birds that visit our garden, its was also used for our daughter who was studying to get into medical school as a hideaway. However, most of all it has been used to celebrate big birthday events (such as our parents 90th and 60th celebrations). My dads 60th was Dambusters themed and was inspired by the 'oldie worldy' Petwood Hotel in Lincolnshire, which is where the Dambusters Squadron stayed inbetween their missions. Our location is also not far away from the famous Ladybower Reservoir where the pilots were trained to practice releasing the bouncing bombs from the spectacular Lancaster Bombers..... the shed is so diverse it even has its own resident DJ.
Our shed was purchased from MCD home and Garden in Barnsley. Their sheds are custom made and come with a metal roof. We though this was ideal as the shed was positioned under trees. We used left over Indian Stone from a previous project to build a veranda and recycled stone from our garden so it was inkeeping with the rustic effect. We also used left over decking wood as a fence surround. We purchased the retro bar from a local charity shop. The interior is simplistic, more modern and chic. The centre of the shed boasts a large inviting comfy pale blue sofa, purchased at half price as an ex display from Dunelm and a small white electric log burner effect fire keeps us warm when its cooler.
When we are not hosting family events our shed is used for my husband and I to relax. We enjoy being by the the coast and watching nature. The blue interior reflects being by the sea and the sound of the brook and the birds outside only add to the effects.
