My shed conversion into a retro American style diner stems from a nostalgic road-trip to the States back in the late 80's where I first experienced the food, smells and atmosphere within them.
Roll on to the present day and on a cold winters night I had this mad-cap idea to create one in my back-garden!! So I bought 2 shipping containers, had 2 sides taken out, joined them together, cladded it in wood panels stained forest green so that it blended into the environment, insulated the interior and had water and electricity fed into it.
I then let my creative juices flow even more with the interior design and hunted far and wide to acquire all the gadgets and toys to give it that real throw back in time 50's feel.
My Diner in a Shed has become a valuable extension to the house and as passionate health chef, I now have my own space for my creating, cooking and sharing my recipes, amongst my family, friends and neighbours as well as a pretty cool hangout joint!
So sit back, relax and enjoy the cinematic sequence of my creation.
My Diner in a Shed and creative food ideas have become very popular within my local community and I get many requests for curiousity visits. Consequently, I have now gone one step further and created a 'Diner in a Truck' and undertake visits to schools, festivals, parties/events and have also had a mascot (Terry the Tiger) made to accompany these trips out.
