My Daughter has been a huge Harry Potter fan since she was 8.
Her own bunk space is styled as "Ravenclaw" house and the guest bunk is "Gryffindor" house.
I hope I have designed the den so that it can be restyled, perhaps by Ellie herself, so that she can still enjoy her own space there as she gets older.
I am happy to say that my daughter is no longer jealous of my own basic work shed!
I designed and built Ellie's Den for my 10 year old Daughter to enjoy a place of her own and sleepovers with up her friends. Due to covid this is still something to be looked forward to but she and I (her Mum) have spent many nights in this Harry Potter themed mini house at the bottom of our small garden.
There are two rooms downstairs, the main one with a sofa bed, small table, chair and all important power socket and phone charging points! A rope ladder leads to two separate upstairs bunk rooms each with it's own shelf and curtained round glass window. Ellie's Den has it's own private garden and balcony which can only be accessed via a secret passage way. There is even a pond where we raised 80 tadpoles last year. Ellie has the best view in the house from the flat roof top, accessed via a stained glass door in the "living room". My Daughter loves having her very own key to lock her very own front door.
Designing and building Ellie's den kept me sane during the first lock down! The inspirations for the features came from Ellie herself and I owe massive thanks to my friend Brian also. I still need to build a ladder to the flat roof and finish the safety rail around it. In her den's own tiny front garden Ellie grew peas, peppers and cucumbers last year and we have planted blackberries, raspberries and wisteria which I hope will grow over the trellis improving the appearance of the den over time.
