Number 12 is a solar-powered 'garden office eco shed' that I use for writing articles. It was originally built about 30 years ago as a chicken coop and constructed from old floorboards and waste material from farms. For the last 10 years it's been a store shed for beehives. Number 12 stands on the banks of the Grand Union canal with swans, ducks, coots and kingfishers, and next to woodland teeming with owls, squirrels, deer and the occasional Red Kite. The shed is heated by a woodburning stove forged by The Windy Smithy and powered by 140 watts of solar power to make a sustainable working environment.
