It is based on the Rhombic Triacotahedron - one of the Archimedian Dual Polyhedra. It is not a geodesic dome and has the property to fit together with itself to make much larger internal spaces; but I have only been able to show this as models, not at full scale. I built it on a decking platform which has direct access from the house.
I have been playing with this idea for a number of years and finally built a larger-scale wood frame on a decking platform. I covered the frame with weatherboard last summer and decided to paint it white to reflect some light into the tree-surrounded garden. Essentially it is made from a repeating diamond shape and I am interested in redesigning the idea as a movable flatpack.
