A hidden treasure, a life size street display transports visitors back to the 1940s where they can once again by sweets by the quarter and smell the sweet smells of carbolic soap. Next door, the reconstruction of a late 1940s cottage is fitted out to make any 1940s housewife proud and the Anderson shelter is a silent reminder that not all is well on the home front. The BBC Comedy Treasure Dad's Army is brought to life with Captain Mainwaring's Office reconstructed for all fans of the show young and old. As a tribute to the centenary of the start of WW1 a new exhibition featuring a trench reproduction and display on life in the trenches is in the works.
