Although this cabin came as kit we dug out and laid the foundations and erected it ourself along with some friends. The bar area was done by my friends dad out of kitchen units. My father in law was a very keen historian on the local area, and he has kindly passed on lots of old newspapers and mining mementos. We use it for partys and family get togethers. Why the shebeen inn ?. In days gone by the local miners would drink in the public houses but when these closed they would head off to a house where the owner would continue to ply them with whiskey. An underground drinking den, these houses were called shebeens. My late father in law wrote a book about the miners and this is were we took the name from. Before he died he presented us with a name plaque for the cabin.
We have the 1st copy of the local paper in the cabin, lots of history books about the local area.
