My shed is a resurrected derelict yurt structure re-sited to a lakeside setting in woodland as a general purpose party room for family and friends use.
The original yurt structure was lifted three feet higher on a dry stone and block work dwarf wall - the yurt can now be accessed with out stooping; a broad front door replaced the small narrow one using recycled materials comprising a pair of part glazed doors, railway sleeper portal with fence post pilasters and topped with a cornice rescued from a builders fire - a classical entrance is created and temple like backdrop as seen from the lake! The earth floor was replaced with brick laid on sand. The original canvas was cleaned and patched, the woodwork was painted in matching colours. The interior of the yurt was lined with a breathable roof underlay (Tyvec) in order to ensure the coverings were fully waterproof. No concrete or cement was used in the construction.
