My boyfriend Paul made this shed and I just think it's beautiful! It isn't very big but it has a strong presence - understated yet beautifully made. It was inspired by the apple crates that fill the orchards at picking time, see pic. It has two windows - one is openable and looks out over the apple trees beyond the garden. Sadly I don't think the bicycles appreciate this particular feature.
Paul made the shed and I helped him bang in the weatherboarding. We started at the back - I was at one end and he was at the other, both hammering away at our own section of boarding. He had put a pencil mark on a piece of wood to show me where to bang the nails in but unfortunately I used it the wrong way up so all my boards were slightly higher. After that I was demoted to tea-maker. TECHNICAL DETAILS: the shed is 8' x 6' and is built on stilts (i.e. on a platform). It is made from 2"x2" uprights with a 25mm exterior ply base and onduline roof; internally lined with WPB, as is the roof; featherboarding is 4" tReated softwood planks; the base uses 4" treated softwood posts pushed 1' into concrete.
