    Shed Features

My lovely shed/studio 1 was originally discovered as a working winch shed rescued from dilapidation from the working fishing beach.

Studio 1 is used as a 'clean space' for colouring and printing relief prints it provides year 'round public access as part of our open studios enabling visitors to view and subsequently purchase or commission work with an emphasis on informality and trust.

During the summer we also sell our 'own grown' hardy salt tolerant plants from a stall beside. (Many more images of this proud little working shed can be found on Flikr) - www.flickr.com/photos/paddyhamilton/sets/72157 594254635348/

    Other Shed info

The shed is 100 years old, it has been adapted three times in this period in three locations starting as a chicken shed in Ashford, then a winch shed/bunk room for a four man fishing crew before being adapted to it's current use.

While cutting through the timbers to add four windows I noticed that the hundreds of coats of bitumen and creosote had seeped into the wood to such an extent that only 2mm of interior wood remained blond, happily the building is now inherently ant proof.

The interior lining was rescued from an early Victorian country shop to complete the 'seasoned' feel.
