Started of as being a workshop but then developed into a bar when I asked my dad Ken who is an 80 year old retired Cabinet Maker to make something unique inspired by last years winner Woodend. Ken has worked on the bar from April 2012 up to present and is keen to add more improvements. The walls have been lined with 18mm MDF and then cladded in pine. The bar itself is MDF and solid pine. The pew type seat is shaped MDF and pine. The optical illusion window gives the impression of looking at my favourite spot in Majorca. The electrics were done by myself.
The building itself which is concrete panels took some time to seal properly especialy from all the rain we have been having. The exterior was sprayed with a waterproofing solution which seems to have worked. The inner roof lining is an insulating material and retains heat very well. The heat inside is provided by a 3kw Calor Provence gas heater which is very effective and looks nice.Ventilation is very important and this is provided by a window mounted fan. The carpet is gel backed and is hard wearing and will not be affected by water.
