This shed was created as a one off to celebrate Dylan Thomas' Centenary Year in 2014. It is an exact replica of the Writing Shed in Laugharne in which Dylan created some of his most famous works. Care was taken to ensure that the interior and exterior recreation was as true to the original as possible, even down to the wood panel walls and corrugated tin roof. The shed allows people to experience the creative writing environment in which Dylan escaped into. The shed has become an educational tool and has been embraced by schools nationwide. It has become a visitor attraction in its own right and demand for the shed has been phenomenal. Since its launch on the 14th February its UK tour will include 31 schools, Hay Festival, Wales Festival of Architecture, National Library of Wales, Brecon Jazz Festival and the Dylan Thomas Festival in London's Fitzrovia. This shed provides visitors with an insight into Dylan Thomas and is unique for 2014.

    Other info

The shed was constructed over a period of four months in a cow shed during the middle of winter. It is based on a 18 foot trailer chassis and has a steel iron box frame which is cladded with tongue and groove, lead flashing, tin corrugated roof and replica door and window fittings. To access the shed wooden stairs and hand rails were custom made as part of the project. Local businesses embraced the shed construction project and a local trailer manufacturer custom made the chassis, a local builder recreated the shed and it was painted with reference to historical pantone colours.
