    Shed Features

It all started when I decided to get a garden office to combat a problem of space, I got far too carried away and before I knew it the garden office was beached themed which meant having to landscape the whole back yard into a beach theme so it would fit in. The back garden became a great space to entertain and my garden office attracted a little bit of attention appearing on TV and national magazines and will also be appearing stateside and in a 'sheshed' book in Australia!

My partner got a bit of shed envy so I jokingly said he could have the other shed that was pre existing in the garden (a 8ft x 6ft shiplap cladded shed full to the brim of junk). This together with the fact that our beach retreat themed garden was missing that vital element - a beach bar, meant that my mind went into overdrive again and before I knew it I had made use of nearly every bit of left over wood, decking boards and pallets (I get my deliveries on these for my business) and Danny's Beach Bar was born!

I really don't like waste and am a big fan of upcycling so being able to make use of bits of left over wood and the pallets from my business was great. I also made some chalk paint to colour random bits of wood by mixing old emulsion I had kicking around with plaster of paris (I stole this from my craft business) and water. The bar counter has been decoupaged with extracts of Danny's car magazines (Dan's a bit of a petrolhead and his shed is the perfect vehicle to show off his porsche collection!)

The optics and some other bar paraphenalia were donated to us after I put a plea out on my facebook page plus Danny's sister used to run a pub so she was able to donate us a few items. I had a small drinks fridge surplus to requirements that fitted perfectly and a tall wooden chair that was in a spare room and made a great bar chair. We also have a collection of beer mats from all over the world adorning the door area, some donated by friends, and we had a few signs we picked up that fitted perfectly in there. and any bar would not be complete without a beer barrel which we manage to blag from a local pub - we shoved a cushion in the top and voila it's now a comfy stool!

It has electricity and we have LED strip lights where we have a choice of about 32 different settings in varying colours, the solar powered lights that are woven into the straw clad ceiling, his disco light that is activated by his Bose sound touch and we even have heat in there so even on the coldest of nights it's nice and snug.

We've had many a good night in there and we find our friends visit us a lot more regularly. We've had cocktail nights, music quiz nights, family reunions and it's become a popular venue for Dan's Tuesday Night Club! We also get the odd celebrity popping in to what they call their favourite local bar!
