    Shed Features

My 'shed' is a beach hut at Dunster Beach. I spent my childhood holidays in a number of these beach huts, so you could say it is a childhood dream come true to have one of my own. Built in 1937 it was used by coastal defence workers during WW2 and holiday makers for the last 70 years, I took ownership of chalet 235 in October 2015, I fully refurbished it from the bottom up and it has been totally transformed into a luxurious beach hut with all mod cons including underfloor heating, king size bed, shower room and kitchen but retaining the original beach hut charm and fun days at the beach. Featured in the Daily Mail as one of their 'ultimate beach huts' in September 2016 www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3774496/Private-swimming-pools-veranda-bamboo-beds-goat-provide-milk-ultimate-beach-huts-revealed

    Other Shed info

Over 6 months between September 2015 and March 2016 the beach hut was totally stripped, all that is left of the original 'shed' is the roof and a couple of timber uprights. It has been a labour of love, one that I am now very proud of and want to share. My partner and myself are not professionals, we have learned many lessons over the time, from the planning stage of a number of weeks researching, purchasing, searching the internet for ideas to the build itself where, apart from trades such as electrics and windows we have done the lot ourselves. We have had a fantastic 1st year renting it as a holiday let, some lovely reviews and comments from our guests, we are also dog friendly and are now silver winners of Dog Friendly Accommodation of the Year in the Bath, Bristol and Somerset Tourism Awards. It's an ongoing project, constantly searching for items to make our little beach hut even better and a better place to stay for our guests. Out of the holiday season, it's where we will be spending a lot of our time, dreaming up new ideas, walking our dogs and just relaxing. This year 2017 we were awarded by Visit England a 5* rating, not bad for a 'shed'.
