We have quite an unusual business, a miniature steam railway called the There and Back Light Railway. This isn't a railway in one place it is portable... like a fairground ride. In order to maintain the railway I needed a workshop and turned to a dilapidated wooden garage on our driveway. We begged and borrowed materials and fittings to make the shed weathertight and secure and then set to making it habitable with power for our machine tools and lighting. Interestingly the shed leans in almost every direction due to being originally built on poor ground. This made lining it out very difficult as the panels were off square in every direction! All of the locomotive servicing takes place in here from preparation and cleaning to making replacement parts and fitting them. The shed probably isn't quite finished and will no doubt evovle over time but for now it can function as a railway workshop
Interesting point that our purple train (moose) was designed by a previous shed of the year winner and built by me last year during lockdown.
