Our bike shed at the bottom of the garden was converted into the Gower Gin Distillery in 2017. It is the smallest Microdistillery in Wales (possibly in the UK) being less than 7 sq. metres. It has a 200L still and we make tens of thousands of bottles of gin per annum.
The shed locations looks out over the sea from the village of Port Eynon and is in one of the most beautiful places in the UK - The Gower AONB. We make our range of gins and then bespoke products on contract for lots of other companies.
All our gins have won awards at national and international competitions - and also many of our bespoke products. Our gin shed was featured in the Craft Gin Club magazine in 2020 which went out to around 50,000 people. It is the favourite perching place of Dodgem our distillery cat.
We welcome hundreds of people into our special gin garden just outside our converted bike shed. It is a very special place, it is where our business started and changed our lives; without our shed I could not have stopped commuting to London and created a simpler more fulfilling life here at home.
The old bike shed at the bottom of the garden was completely stripped out and replaced with wipe-clean walls, a hygienic floor and had services connected. It houses a 200L still and various infusing and storage tanks. The control panel for the still was installed on the outside.
It has been simply painted in our gin colours and is where I work every day. We have now started employing people permanently which is really exciting. None of this could have happened if it was not for our bike shed.
