Well, we are two doors away from th Linthorpe Hotel also known as the 'linnie' Pubs shut during lockdown so I built my own, I work prosecuting fly tippers and saw an opportunity at all the fly tips to salvage wood windows and materials and up cycle, this to me was an opportunity to do something with the stuff other people discard.
It is made from old pallet wood, decking boards old windows and doors lovingly de- nailed sanded and re- worked. The round window behind the bar for example was off our washing machine which died during lock down. The big window is actually a door too, it's mounted on a rail and can be slid open when it's hot. The fridge ( to save space) is actually outside in a weather proof box and the door is flush fitting with the bar wall in the bar. I would say it's around 80% recycled material. The copper pipe work in the pub is homage to my partner's late husband who passed away with cancer. He was a gas engineer and our garage was full of fittings and pipe work. So I wanted to do something in the pub to honour his memory.
