We lost our village pub so have created our own where we can socialise with friends and other villagers. It has been a great space for getting together. It also feels like hubby and I have actually gone “out” if we’re in there rather than at home.
It’s a Tuin summerhouse that is 3m x 3m and was assembled with the help of friends and then painted inside and out by ourselves. Another friend built the bar and shelves for us. I found a damaged catalogue return for the corner seating unit on Facebook marketplace so painted that and made some seat cushions for it. A lot of the bits were purchased from antique centres and similar places. I made the decals for the windows, the exterior sign, the mirror, signs and pictures inside. I’ve also etched our pint glasses with our “logo” to match. We bought table tops to match and chose separate bases to go with the theme. It was a lot of hard work and was largely complete within about 4 weeks and we’ve had lots of fun evenings in there since.
