Designed specifically for one-on-one musical performances, Folk in a Box has been presented at the Venice Biennale and Sydney Festival as well as many music and arts festivals around the UK. The brainchild of singer-songwriter Emily Barker and theatre performer Dom Coyote, Folk in a Box provides a unique experience for performer and audience member alike.
After initially using all manner of lean-tos and self-built sheds, the team brought in architects CMDK to design and build a bespoke shed specifically for the purpose. It can be dismantled and reassembled with ease in just a few minutes. It is soundproofed, has no windows, and two doors - one for the performer to enter, and one for the audience member.
