Shed Features

I thought it was time for an update, its spring - New Year, new start and all that! Anyway. Im an artist (I used to rent a studio space, which cost lots of £!

) so, sick of paying rent, I bought a 6 x 10 shed uhm. last year? no, in 2006!

(where did 2007 go? )Good old Dad, who is just great at DIY extended it to make it a lot taller for storage space and a more airy feel. He also made it stronger, added the 2 big windows and 2 opening ones.

I love me shed, I spent last year working in it and at Christmas I had an 'open studio' event and sold lots of work! I am now off to the north Norfolk coast, to sketch and photograph seascapes and quirky houses - which will inspire me to work away in MY OWN LOVELY SHED. I just love it!

:)

Other Shed info

Birth of my shed in 2006: I painted the inside white, which made it 10 times brighter, electrics all done, we put the shelves up last weekend, I treated myself to a nice piece of lino, put wheels on the unit, converted my old table to fit flush against the sides. so, its nearly done, just got to sort out my stereo and get my Elvis piccys up and my old tin collection out (very important jobs these hahaha) - then I can start to do some fab art work! I LOVE MY SHED (sorry, STUDIO!

) :)

UPDATE 2008: well, last summer was spent insulating my shed, I thought the 2006 winter would be a doddle, boy! How wrong was I? I could just about cope if my heater had been on full blast for a good hour before I ventured inside!

Plus, I was really fed up with my paper cockling and getting damp - and the labels on my tins going soggy! So, me and dad insulated it with inch thick polystyrene sheets. I had the choice of doing it on the cheap and using chip board to go over the polystyrene or do it properly.

I did it properly. We used pine cladding; it was hard work - but heck! It was worth it, how could I not have a nice inside shed!

It looks totally fab and now, I have survived the winter of 2007. ** word of advice, dont try and be brave and think you can survive the winter without insulating, I only wished I would have listened to my dad in the first place and insulated it from the bl**dy start! Still, at least its done now and pulling everything out, insulating it, then putting EVERYTHING back again was really fun!

hahaha.
