Completely hand-built, the shed is mostly a music/art studio, but there is a bed for unexpected guests.
I started building the Boomhuis at the beginning of 2023 and it took me about six months to complete. I had some spare telegraph poles, so I thought I would make an extension to the sunken sauna I had built a few years’ previously. Much to my wife’s concern, both were built with with no plans. Fortunately neither have fallen down yet!The shed was made from as many recycled and discounted materials as possible, including bargain-price double glazing from ebay, a reclaimed front door and some scraps of corrugated roofing left over from a farm installation. To make it an all-seasons shed, it has been fully insulated with secondhand Celotex, and both the floor and fold-down desk are made from scaffold boards. The space is just big enough for a sofa-bed but its main use is as a music room/art studio. Or simply somewhere to enjoy a G&T while watching the sun set…
