    Shed Features

Our home used to be the village pub called The Hostry Inn. It was said to have been the local pub from 1459 to 2002 when sadly it was closed. We purchased the building as a private house in 2021. Within the garden there was a double garage and a run down breeze block garden shed slightly larger than a single garage (6m x 3.5m). We have done lots to try and recreate a community feel by using our home and have had Christmas parties in the street outside and several Burns Nights which it was renowned for in the 1980s. We then decided to recreate a pub in the redundant garden shed. It is a private pub and our friends in the village have used it too. It is not an office however it does open into the garden so creates that pub feel with a beer garden for the coming summer.

    Other Shed info

The shed is now known as The Little Hostry and we have created a functioning (free) pub within. Work started in November 2023 and it was completed early March 2024 at a cost of £12,500 for the refurbishment. We have reused lots of materials such as an old timber fence for the wall paneling and a redundant wooden kitchen top for the bar.. Whilst a modern building, we have modelled with a definite nod to what the original pub looked like in the 1980s. This includes a reclaimed Victorian panelled entrance door, panelled fireplace surround to match the 1980s feel, panelled walls, a curved bench and we have sourced some original features like a yard of ale, pot gin bottle and pewter tankard with a matching pewter measuring pot for shots. We even have an old invite to a party at the pub hanging on the wall from 1851. The furniture is made up of reclamation items in the form of 1980s style bar stools, tables, chairs and stools.
