Carol's Potting Shed

In simple terms there is not another one like it. Built almost entirely by myself as a year long labour of love. Many of the materials used are recycled.

The Canadian shingled roof and exposed rafters are supported on 4No locally sourced pine trees from a small wood yard down a country lane 2 miles away. Internally the roof space is illuminated by concealed lighting. The inner floorboards were machined out old 30mm thick iroka worktops discarded from a nearby university. The inner cladding is sub divided 30/70 (using 2 different widths matchboard) and separated by a dado made from the same batch of reclaimed worktops.

The building itself is inboard of the roof tree supports and is fully insulated inc 200mm under the floor. It also houses a music system and some rustic furniture. The newall posts that form the wrap around decking balustrade are topped off with 100 year old wooden bowling balls. 2 more can be seen sited on both ends of the roof ridge.

Completed in 2004 it has never been entered into any competition.

Year first entered 2010
