Heb's Shed

Category: Unexpected

Less than £100

The first shed that sprung up since the Gilroy Road (West Kirby) Allotments Association came into being in 2011. Fabricated using framework of timber pallets clad with offcuts of feather edge board. Comprises two stained glass windows a door for humans and an access hatch for Mervyn the allotment cat. It serves as a stash for pots, seeds and a collection point for eggs and houses an honesty box. To the rear is an integral potting bench and a lean too roof to keep the driving rain and draughts away from the cat hatch. Total cost approx οΎ£30 for felt traded with eggs, screws and nails. The windows are made from reclaimed glass and are in the style of Charles Renne McIntosh.

Built on a foundation of reclaimed square patio flags on a bed of sand. The base is a large pallet that easily interlocks with the 4 pallets forming the frames for the walls. A pallet was cust in half to add the height to the rear wall and the remainder was fixed to the roof pallet. Feather edge simply screwed to the frame. Felt tacked to the roof and guttering, downpipe and water butt recycled from the local tip.
