Rosewood Station

More than £500

This summerhouse has been made to recreate the nostalgia of a country railway halt/waiting room of the 1930s. Outside there are genuine railway tracks and a white picket fence with gate. The station has power and is insulated. On the outside of the station are genuine GWR lamps converted to electricity. There are also old railway signs alerting visitors to close the gate (penalty 40 shillings) a home made signal and other accessories. Inside it is comfortably furnished with many genuine railway aretefacts as well as railway inspired memorabilia. Walls are decorated with railway posters advertising 1930s railway companies. There is a cosy imitation log burner for heat and even steam train sound effects and station announcements played outside via a bluetooth device.

The shed was erected in 2015 but it has taken over a year to equip and furnish to its present state. It is designed as a comfortable retreat at any time of the year and a place that complements my love of railways and hopefully inspire others. The station is set in a third of an acre English country garden designed by my wife to whom I have been married 42 years.

Year first entered 2017
