    Shed Features

"The Shippey Shack" was designed by Derek "Deek" Diedricksen, for clients Jim Shippey and Laura DeRochers as a reading shed and art studio. Built in only two days as part of one of Deek's hands-on Relaxshacks building and design workshops, the cabin is a mere 6' by 8' at its base, but 10' 6" within, making it feel more spacious than one would assume. An abundance of natural light through its clear Tuftex polycarbonate wall also helps to complete this more spacious feel in so small a structure. All in all, the cabin was built for about $800 USD and additionally use some salvaged materials within its construction, from a door that was found behind a factory (being thrown away) that was rehabbed with pallet wood, to a mosaiced wall of scrap wood and wine boxes that were implemented for some visual interest. The frame work that supports the front's clear panel work, also doubles as small shelving within for bottles, paperback, and knick-knacks.
