We built this at the back of our garden to live in while we complete our house renovation (we are a family of 5 and a dog, including a 6 month old baby). The planning permission/wait to start build took so long we hadn't planned on living in this Cabin with 3 children! We wanted a rustic/cosy feel to the cabin and took our time to get it right. I am a visual effects artist, and the Hollywood strikes hit my industry hard; so work in 2023/4 was patchy. This meant, however I could attempt to learn carpentry skills and had the time to slowly build the interiors. I made all the doors (scaffold wood), stairs, kitchen and all the units. The bathroom was done by us (with expert help from my father in law). We love living in here so much that we worry that when the house is finished we won't want to move out! The cost of this build was less than the cost it would have been to rent during this period so that, for us, is a win.
