Shed of the year 2010 has been announced

Shedtype: [Cabin/Summerhouse]

Features:

This shed is Shed of the year 2009! read more about the competition, or Share your shed

At 5 metres square,I designed it in my head and built it myself. Because it is on a very steep bank a platform was constructed on stilts first and then the cabin was built directly onto this. It incorporates a compost toilet room with hand washing facilities and boasts bunk beds, a woodburner and Sky TV. With a a wall of glass windows facing south, it makes the most of a fantastic view over the valley in which we live. A veranda in the front allows you to sit in the fresh air and take in the scenery and sound of local cows mooing.

Additional Info: I built it completely on my own from my own design. No pre-ordered cabin here.

I think it is only fair to point out that the owner of the shed is not able to 'wipe' any comments, but that some comments are removed by the owner of this site at their disgression. Everybody welcomes constructive criticism.

Hi Jase, I know this site is supposed to communicate comments to this guy, but after watching for some time as a dedicated sheddie,I'm a bit bemused as to why any negative comments are wiped by him, leaving only the praise and adoration, whatever happened to free speach? After all isn't that what this is all about, taking the rough with the smooth? I wonder how long it will take for him to delete this comment?

Hi sorry but not really a shed more of a home
by Jason on 24/03/2010 from 82.132.---.---

Hello, I am a 2nd year media student from london and for one of my pieces i am studying men and their sheds. It would be really good to get some information from you, on how it started, why, when, why you thought to share with this website and win shed of the year. My email is poppy_27@hotmail.com. thanks
by poppy on 19/11/2009 from 81.101.---.---

Love it Congratulations

Congratulations Steve. Very well done.
by Princess Tat on 10/07/2009 from 86.153.---.---

The platform in fact is two metres at the front going to 0 metres at the back as it is on a steep hill. I could have dug out the hill to make it level. The cabin that sits on top of the platform is a separate construction and is just over 2 metres at its highest. This makes the rear of the cabin only just over 2.5 metres from ground level. The toilet is a plastic bin with a toilet seat on top. Better than a hole in the ground. And anyone can put a bed in their shed, as long as they are not living in it. A local councillor has also enjoyed visiting and aims to do the same in his garden. Knowledge regarding planning and regs is very important when building a temporary structure, I know this only too well as I worked in local authority with health and safety for quite some time. Hope this answers the question.
by Steven Harwood on 09/07/2009 from 89.168.---.---

Err ... given it's on stilts which raises the height to over 4m, has sanitation (of a sort) and beds, would planning permission have been needed and was it granted?
by Iain on 09/07/2009 from 86.141.---.---

Many congratulations, this is a great shed.

Not quite a tree house but almost...a special "home from home" & certainly a place of peace with super facilities & views. Designed and built by the man himself!! Wow!!
by Rodney Webb on 03/06/2009 from 212.84.---.---

Steve is owner and artist/builder. I have been in this lovely "shed". Pictures only give you an idea of how wonderful "Kite Cabin" really is...The view from the hill of his village and surrounding countryside makes the heart sing. Inside, Steve has created a place of peace and comfort. It has evolved over time, a lovely place to perch.
