Having lived in Barbados for 7 years and frequented lots of rum shops with my Dad Roy- when we lost him to Prostate cancer in 2019 we decided to crack on with our plans to build our own Rum shop in the garden in his honour.
Roy was amazing at building and fixing anything and the blueprint design for the shed was copied from the shed he constructed in his garden the summer before he died. Many of the tools to build the shed were borrowed from my late Dads collection, and it really is a labour of love.
We often raise a glass of Barbados Mount Gay rum to him when out there and his cap hangs in pride of place on the wall.
The Roy’s Bar sign was made out of a surfboard that our young sons used to surf on in Barbados whilst we lived there.
Rum shop, entertainment, legacy to Roy
