We are only allowed a 6 x 8 ft shed max on the allotment. I wanted a shed that would be a nice place to relax, have a cuppa with a mid century ‘grow your own’ feel but also a practical place to store garden tools and equipment. My late Nana was called Ethel - she loved a cuppa and gardening. I kitted it out with repurposed items I already had including my Nana’s old garden chair, 1950s metal drawers that were in my late dad’s workshop and an old cabinet. A friend made the curtains. It was all done very cheaply as all my cash went on buying the actual shed. Everyone comments that is feels like going back in time inside my lovely shed!
I took on the allotment in Dec 2021. There is no vehicle access to the allotment - it’s a 5 minute walk from the road and up a hill. There is also no power on the allotment - so it all had to be built old school and carried from the road to my plot. I got some (paid) help putting up the shed as I was not able to do it myself. For these reasons I went for a flat pack shed rather than doing my own build.
