This is not a shed, it’s the shed, an absolute gem—practical, stylish, built and designed to be visually appealing and functional. Bespoke-ly constructed by myself and my carpenter friend over two months last summer, 2024, I missed the deadline for last years entries.
With the exception of the cladding and internal boarding, the shed was made from reclaimed materials. The framework and internal timbers from an end of build new home development and the main uprights and roofing from a dismantled barn from a local farm. The robust black hardware gives it a sleek contrast, while the metal flat roof adds to the contemporary charm and gives great protection from the elements.
The three distinct sections offer impressive versatility. The left side features large double doors, perfect for accessing with larger items. A rack for storage of the timber ready for the next project, the “kitchen” with fridge, kettle and a rainwater fed sink for the cleaning of the brushes after painting with Cuprinols Ducksback Shed & Fence Paint!
The middle section has an oversized single pedestrian door and window for natural light —essential for all sorts of creativity. Tool storage shelves, a row of cabinets for all those bits that will come in handy one day and a large work bench. The right-hand section adds the “garage” housing the weekend toys.
The home of the 650cc bike and a somewhat smaller electric scooter, for trips around the garden, and the tools needed to keep everything on the road.
Other features include, generous internal and external power points and LED lighting, hard wired wi-fi and 32” TV.
The outside work bench gives the versatility to be able to get some sun whilst doing some tinkering or shelter from the rain under the cantilevered roof.
The shed sits beautifully opposite a matching outbuildings, with a gravel pathway leading up to it—making it a useful addition to the garden used for storage, DIY, hobbies, it’s a cozy retreat just far enough away from the house so I’m out of sight but close enough to hear the shout when the dinner is ready.
