The most important thing when people work on their music is freedom. Freedom to be creative, be spontaneous and be themselves. This doesn’t happen as much as it should in standard recording studios, where you’d usually just do your allotted hours and then leave. That's on top of possibly feeling overwhelmed by a big studio with a strict schedule. Well it works differently at SHEDstudios. We provide a relaxed boho getaway environment. The kind of atmosphere and setting where musicians feel they’re escaping the real world. I produce and record music with various musicians in there and each one comments on the unique experience shared. Our songs have been played around the world, including being playlisted on big stations like BBC Radio, RTÉ Radio (the biggest station in Ireland) and many more. What worked for one singer might not work for another. No one person is the same and so we believe in bespoke ways of doing the whole recording process - whatever works best for each persons creativity! With an environment where ‘mistakes' are fine (and sometimes better!)
Built in late 2019, the original idea came from when i still lived with my parent and wanted somewhere at home where i could make music. Back then I got the cheapest rickety shed i could find.
However when i bought my own house, it turned into a proper business and i decided to create a full professional cabin from scratch.
I did all of the interior work myself, only the shed builders built the shell (with design choices from me). There is a story high on @SHEDstudiosUK on instagram where you can see the build!
I insulated / soundproofed the floors, ceiling and walls and then added an extra interior layer of food, painted with cuprinol mixed with water so the wood shone through.
I then added soundproof interior i created myself including inside the doors and windows - the panels can open up to let the light in or close to fully soundproof.
I only spent around £1500 on the whole studio as manager to get all of the interior wood for free from a Wickes scrap skip!
