Built last year our shed sits at the back of our allotment plot looking out on to the fruit tree guilds that we planted at the same time. Built from mostly free reclaimed material we named our shed ‘The Homeshed’ Built as a family space to cook up and enjoy the fresh produce we are growing on our plot as well as somewhere to sit down with a cuppa and shelter from the rain. It’s cool and dark with the shutters closed so it has proved a useful space to store onions and potatoes through the winter. As the weather improves this year we are at the allotment a lot more as a family and the shed is proving to be a really big draw for the kids and somewhere they want to spend time. We also managed to harvest over 500lts of rain water over the winter so the shed is proving to be a very useful addition to our allotment plot and the whole family really loves it:)
Originally entered under the budget category we switched to simple but effective which works for this shed, obviously in shape and design but also the little features are simple but effective too like the shutter windows, champagne cork coat hooks, box file storage and of course the camping stove which creates a simple but effective shed kitchen.
Started build Jan 24 and finished (to a point!) in Sept 24, I used pallets for the base, reclaimed fence posts and more pallets for the walls, with screws gifted to me from my father-in-law, a recently retired window fitter. The only materials I paid out for was the OSB for the roof.
